After years of trying unsuccessfully to get an artist alley table at Toronto’s summer FanExpo, I have changed tracks and I will be making my artist alley debut at Unplugged Expo 2019!
I am extremely excited for the opportunity, but of course this has costs associated (entrance fee, making prints, equipment, transport). If you are interested in helping me out, please consider buying me a coffee. Every dollar helps!
If any of my followers are in/around the area, I would love to see you there on September 13-14 in Toronto!
Hi there!
If you’re watching me on deviantart, I assume it’s because you like (and/or tolerate) my art. And now, at long last there is a way to really show me your appreciation (and/or tolerance), because I am now on Patreon!
So why should you support me on Patreon?
Basically it’s good for you to be a patron because you get cool stuff, and it’s good for me for you to be a patron because it makes it so I can keep producing art - something I want to do anyway, but isn’t always easy.
So please do consider helping me out! For just a dollar per month you can make a real difference to me.
Thanks!
I find it embarrassing that I have to do this, but things are getting out of hand. Earlier this year a user on tumblr accused me of copying the work of artists who I had never heard of or seen. This accusation was outlandish to anyone who actually looked at the “copied” images, and didn’t damage my reputation at all. Nonetheless it was very upsetting, especially considering the user tracked down the one image of my face which is available on the internet. The user also made the effort to find images I drew more than 5 years ago, suggesting a worryingly thorough attention to the contents of my tumblr and deviantart.
I have had mixed success in having the posts on tumblr taken down and blocked the user, but they have recently made a deviant art account juxtaposing works of mine with other artists' works in a way which again implies I have copied them. This "copying" ranges from drawing the same historical figure as another artist, to painting anyone with blank eyes. In other words: only the most superficial, immaterial similarities which no sane person could construe as plagiarism. Needless to say, I have blocked the user and reported the deviations they made using my copyrighted artwork.
I guess this journal is part public statement, part plea not to support the user who has done this. I have never plagiarized. This whole situation is distressing to me and I want it to stop.
Special thanks to the user who pointed out that this had been done, and thanks to all my watchers for their continuing support.
